Tungsten Carbide Nozzle and Throat (Mixing Tube) for Jet Pump - Key Components for Downhole Hydraulic Lift Systems About
Product Overview
Our Tungsten Carbide Nozzle and Throat (Mixing Tube) are precision-engineered key components designed for downhole jet pumps in oil and gas hydraulic lift systems. As the critical elements of a jet pump, the nozzle and throat work together to convert high-pressure power fluid into a high-velocity jet that lifts reservoir fluids to the surface.
Manufactured from premium tungsten carbide (WC-6%Ni) , these components deliver exceptional resistance to abrasive wear, erosion, and corrosion ensuring long service life in the most demanding downhole conditions where sand, solids, and corrosive fluids are present.
The performance capability of any jet pump depends upon the area ratio of the nozzle and throat. Pumps with the same area ratio have the same performance and efficiency curves. We supply matched nozzle and throat sets to ensure optimal pump performance.

Applications
Our tungsten carbide nozzles and throats are used in the following applications:
- Downhole Jet Pumps - As the primary flow-control components in hydraulic lift systems
- Offshore Oil Production - In subsea and platform-based jet pump installations
- Onshore Oil Wells - For enhanced oil recovery (EOR) and low-pressure well lifting
- Sand-Producing Wells - Withstanding abrasive solids in produced fluids
- Sour Service Wells Nickel-Bonded grade provides corrosion resistance in HS/CO environments
- Heavy Oil & Viscous Oil Wells - Reliable performance in challenging fluid conditions
How a Jet Pump Works
In a downhole jet pump, the nozzle and throat (mixing tube) work together based on the Venturi principle:
1. Nozzle - High-pressure power fluid enters the nozzle and is converted into a high-velocity, low-pressure jet.
2. Throat - The high-velocity jet creates a pressure drop that draws reservoir fluids into the pump. The power fluid and reservoir fluids mix within the throat.
3. Diffuser - The mixed fluid decelerates, converting velocity back to pressure, lifting the mixture to the surface.
The area ratio (nozzle-to-throat area) determines the pump's performance characteristics including flow rate, lift capacity, and efficiency.
